Find Your Zone

  • Type in your address

  • Click on the “Layers” Tab (Gray bar, 3 stacked squares)

    • Unselect “Water Supply Wells”

    • Select “Zoning Planned Development”

Find your zoning district in the Colorado Safe Parking Initiative’s “Zoning Code Regulations-County” spreadsheet or in the Jefferson County Zoning Resolution

  • If your zone district doesn’t allow for accessory uses for parking lots or cars, contact your planning and zoning division to discuss your options.


General Zoning Regulations

Off-Street Parking and Loading Regulations

  • Parking spaces and loading areas shall not be used for the sale or display of merchandise or materials, storage or repair of vehicles or equipment, for trash containment areas, or for shopping cart storage unless otherwise permitted by this Zoning Resolution and approved by Planning and Zoning. (I-1) 

General Accessory Use Regulations

  • Agricultural and Residential Districts

    • Accessory Use in all residential zone districts cannot exceed the square footage for the primary use square footage to which they are subordinate (B-6)

    • Non-commercial type vehicles shall be considered accessory to residential uses.  However, such vehicles must be licensed and operable or stored within a structure (B-8)

  • Accessory Dwelling Units

    • Agricultural and Residential Districts, including Planned Development: Accessory Dwelling Units are allowed, with restrictions outlined in D.b.(1)-(12) 

  • Commercial and Industrial Districts

    • Uses accessory to an authorized use shall be permitted.  The parking of vehicles for clients, patients, patrons or customers within C-1, C-2, RC-1, I-1, I-2, I-3 and I-4, with or without charge, and in connection with any use permitted in such, shall be deemed an accessory use. (E-1)

  • Mobile Home and Recreational Vehicles

    • RVs may not be kept anywhere within the County except where allowed within an applicable zone district beyond 2 weeks of then the vehicle arrives in the County (Section 34 - Mobile Home Park District G-3)
