Cassie Tanner

Board Director

(she/her/hers)

What is your 'day job' when you aren't supporting CSPI ? I am the deputy director of public affairs and government relations for AAA- The Auto Club Group. I love my job and the ability to work on traffic safety issues, drivers education and more. AAA started over 120 years ago with the idea that a vehicle was an individual’s passport to freedom, and that still rings true today. I enjoy advocating for policies that made Colorado roads safer and participating in community events to connect with our AAA members.

How do you connect personally with CSPI mission? The mission of CSPI is personal to me because I know how important a vehicle is to someone, but it is even more important to the clients CSPI serves since it is not only their means of transportation, but also their shelter and home.

What other volunteer work do you enjoy? Giving back to the community has always been important to me and was ingrained in me my entire life as I watched everyone in my family volunteer for various organizations and causes important to them. I have served on numerous boards and volunteered for many animal rescue groups over the years. I currently serve on the West Metro Chamber Foundation Board, Friends of Foothills Animal Shelter Board and DeAngelis Center Foundation Board in addition to CSPI.

What is your hometown? I grew up in southwest Denver, but now live in Arvada. My grandparents lived in Arvada my entire life and I feel very connected to the Arvada community and all of Jefferson County after living here for 22 years.

Things you enjoy doing outside of volunteer/professional work: I am a proud Elk and belong to the Arvada Lodge #2278. I spend time helping around the lodge and am the editor of our monthly newsletter and weekly email blasts. I also enjoy getting away to our family cabin in Tincup, CO and listening to live music.

Do you have a chosen or pet you'd like to brag about? I have an amazing son who is going to enter 2nd grade in Fall ’24 and a 5yo rescue boxer named Uber. My son is obsessed with transportation- planes, trains, automobiles, etc. and with a dog named Uber, it is really fitting to be part of the CSPI family!
