Beth Harris-Robinson

Board Director

(she/her/hers)

What is your 'day job' when you aren't supporting CSPI ? My day job is General Counsel at Archway Communities. I also supervise our HR team. Archway Communities is an affordable housing developer and manager. I work with a really amazing team that is passionate about affordable housing.

How do you connect personally with CSPI mission? I am passionate about affordable and accessible housing and believe housing is critically important for the potential of our communities.  I am passionate about creating systems that make our world a more just place, and housing is a key failure point for so much of the suffering in our world. Supporting people who live in their vehicles, often an invisible part of our community that is unhoused, is an important part of ensuring that everyone has a place to call home. And adequate housing can have generational impacts; your likelihood to be unhoused at any point in your life increases based on whether or not you were unhoused as a child. If we want to break the cycle and solve the problem of housing in our communities, we have to look at the cause and support real solutions that meet people where they are, including those who are housed in their vehicles.

What other volunteer work do you enjoy? I have volunteered with many different organizations, always with a goal of helping others directly or positively impacting policy. I am a member and board member of a nonprofit organization called Jack and Jill of America, Inc. in the Denver Chapter. I have also volunteered with the Rocky Mountain Harvard Alumni Association at two churches that serve meals, and with the Sam Cary Bar Association at Denver Rescue Mission. I volunteered with the Legislative Counsel of the Colorado Bar Association for a number of years providing feedback regarding legislation with an emphasis on employment-related legislation. I also was a board member of the Colorado Women’s Bar Association. I really enjoy helping people, and I think I am best at thinking through how and why we do what we do, with an emphasis on process improvement.

What is your hometown? I am from Dayton, Ohio. I have lived in 8 states though (Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, Georgia, Massachusetts, Missouri, Kentucky, and Colorado) and so I don’t know if I really seem very Ohioan anymore.

Things you enjoy doing outside of volunteer/professional work: I really enjoy reading and I read books with my son using Audible. I also enjoy travel to new places, and have been to five continents (not counting north America).

Do you have a chosen or pet you'd like to brag about? I have a ten-year-old kiddo who is my side-kick (or I am their side-kick if you ask them). Their name is Ethan. Ethan is in fifth grade and is a percussionist in their school band.
