How do you connect personally with CSPI mission: Devoted my professional career working in homeless services and policy

What other volunteer work do you enjoy: Assisting in political campaigns as well as LGBTQ+ issues

What is your hometown? Military brat from the south but currently live in Guffey, Colorado

Things you enjoy doing outside of volunteer/professional work: yoga practitioner, stained glass, pastel art, time with my dog and husband, helping neighbor with her goats, kayaking, being in nature.

Do you have a chosen or pet family you'd like to brag about? Husband is Stewart Larson and we are celebrating our 35th anniversary in 2023. We share our home with Zeke (dog) as well as Meo and Kip (cats)

 

Brief bio:

Gary Sanford has over 30 years of experience addressing homelessness through his leadership with non-profit agencies, grant making organizations, local and state governments as well as a trainer and consultant.

Professional highlights  include: Executive Director of the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative (MDHI); Advisor on Homeless Initiatives for Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper. Gary was instrumental in the development of Colorado’s first state plan addressing homelessness – Pathways Home Colorado. Director of the Colorado Community and Interagency Council on Homelessness under Governor Bill Ritter; Director of Training for the Florida Network of Youth & Family Services; as well as founding Executive Director of Urban Peak.
